Peer Review: Be able to critique their own and others’ work by emphasizing global revision early in the writing process and local revision later in the process. This learning outcome is focused on the ability to critically read a peer’s project and make constructive suggestions for change, in addition to the ability to evaluate one’s own work and identify opportunities for specific improvement.
In the peer editing process, I’ve taken the work and made needed adjustments to help guide the writer to a more sound and strong paper with edits and suggestions. During the process I’ve learned proper formatting that differentiates between how I’ve been previously taught. Below is the editing I’ve done to one of my classmates.
Although the essay overall was well written, there were still adjustments that could be made. The thesis was not very direct and took time to develop so I suggested a clearer thesis be made before anything else. The story flowed well and the writer kept elaborating and making connections to his thesis once it was developed. There were some unnecessary details so I suggested some places where he could shorten that out. On page 3 I told him one of his sentences wasn’t a necessary detail and made the story he was telling feel more like a short story with the word play he used.
At the end I left him a comment that said “Overall well written. You support opposing views too much. It’s good to acknowledge other sides, don’t go overboard though. Try being more assertive when making statements. Good job!”
I’ve also provided three pages for examples on work that someone has done to my paper. I’ve taken the criticism and applied it to my paper to fix the errors I have made. The three pages are below the edits I made to someone elses paper
